Coming Completely Undone

ForASeedI love this quote. LOVE it, but Occelli forgot to mention how painful it can be for the seed to come completely undone.

  1. This exactly captures how I feel about entering into adoption reunion. Yes, learning the truth of who you are will fill in gaps of understanding and you will grow. But the person you were will be entirely destroyed and remade in the process. Not for the faint of heart!

    • Definitely not for the faint of heart, is it? And sometimes, I wonder how many times adoption reunions are derailed along the way because this process isn’t understood very well by those who are in the throes of “coming undone” in the process of being remade, and even less understood by the casual outside observe of the process.

      • Heh, no, it’s not.

This seed analogy is so much more apt than the standard “roller coaster” one, which makes adoption reunion seem fun & cheery, instead of permanently life-changing and slightly terrifying & bewildering.

Still, I’d go through it again. But such things should come with better warning labels, eh?
